Bumble Bee Control
They are actually kind of cute if you really want to know the truth. All yellow and black, moving back and forth between the blooms spreading around that precious pollen so many of us are allergic to. But the reality is that the bumble bee can be pretty pesty at times. But have no fear, you are not alone if you find yourself looking to eliminate bees from your immediate vicinity.
Since bumble bees are not native to Australia, it makes sense that many Aussies would find bumble bees to be somewhat annoying – these, no doubt, are the people looking into bee elimination.
The large earth bumble bee is the one you should expect to see in Australia. This bumble bee can be found all over Tasmania, but the goal is to keep them there. Bumble bee control (or elimination) is especially important to a place like Victoria. The reason: because it is believed that bumble bees would interfere with the growth of important plant life native to the area.
So yes, the bumble bee may be one of the cutest of all the little flying insects you’ll ever see (definitely one of the more colorful) but in Australia they are not so popular as in other parts of the world. And for this reason you may find yourself needing to eliminate one who’s come uninvited into your world.
Bumble-bees do Still Sting
Bumble-bees do give honey, but the bumble bee also stings. And it doesn’t matter how much pollen they spread or how good their nectar tastes in tea, the sting of the bumble-bee will never completely stop worrying me. I don’t see anything wrong with looking at the bumble bee and admiring its beauty, just as long as you know how to handle a bee sting.
The chances are great that if you are reading this you have probably been stung by a bumble-bee at least one time in your life. This two toned creature who serves his queen as he lives his life with only one season in between. As a matter of fact, it is during its dying season that bumble bees are more prone to stinging most often.
So if a bumble-bee stings you there are a couple of things you can try. Let’s look a couple of unconventional methods of dealing with a bumble-bee sting:
- Take a penny and tape it to your arm as soon as you get stung. Supposedly the copper in the penny counteracts the damage from the sting.
- Take baking soda and water and form a paste. Use this paste over the sting to help with itching.
